Xbox Live Arcade Top 10 Sellers
Posted by Brandon Gribin Categories: Xbox 360, Xbox Live, Xbox Live Marketplace,
IGN has reported the top ten best selling Xbox Live Arcade games. We can say we are surprised at the game that took the number one spot…
- Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved
- Gauntlet
- Smash TV
- Bejeweled II
- Zuma
- Bankshot Billiards
- Outpost Kaloki
- Mutant Storm Reloaded
- Joust
- Wik: Fable of Souls
It’s good to see a variety of games (both old and new) on the list, but we’re looking forward to seeing more games being released on the Arcade in the new future, because in all honesty, there aren’t that many Xbox Live Arcade games available quite yet.

Subway’s Jared Blames Nintendo for Weight Problems
Posted by Brandon Gribin Categories: Culture, Nintendo,
Surely the name Jared Fogel rings a bell. Jared’s the guy that’s been featured in just about every Subway advertisement over the last ten years, who boasts about how much weight he lost from eating at Subway. In total, he lost over 250 pounds since he changed his eating habits.
Before he lost that weight, he weighed in at a grand total of 425 pounds. Just recently, he blamed Nintendo for becoming overweight. Fogel describes being a child and holding the Nintendo controller with one hand while eating chips with his other hand. In all fairness, Nintendo shouldn’t be blamed here. Yes, the video game machine may have led to his obesity problem, but the Nintendo did not make him fat. Rather, his mom and dad’s poor parenting skills didn’t prevent him from putting on the excess weight.
We’re sure Jared understands the idea of responsibility, as he picked himself up and got into better eating and excercise habits. To blame Nintendo seems improper though.

The freight train that is World of Warcraft definitely isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. Blizzard just announced that its subscriber base in Europe has just passed 1 million, which brings the grand worldwide total to an amazing 5.5 million. How’s that for a big number?
While I’ve never played the title, I hear plenty about it. It’s covered in many places on the internet, a number of my friends play the game - I can’t get away from talk of WoW. I have no idea when the game’s subscriber count is going to peak, but I doubt it’ll be anytime soon. And I have a tough time thinking that another MMORPG will ever be able to unseat WoW’s dominance.

Mario Kart DS Sales Soar
Posted by Brandon Gribin Categories: Corporate News, Driving, Nintendo DS,
It’s official. Mario Kart DS owns.
Nintendo’s DS titled has raced up the charts to become the top selling portable title for November and December ‘05, and also #6 on last month’s best sellers’. It looks like the Nintendo DS finally has a ‘must-have’ title. Yeah, Nintendogs, Advance Wars DS, and Kirby: Canvas Curse are all great games - but the different games honestly don’t appeal to everyone. On the other hand, anyone from a casual to hardcore gamer can pick up MKDS and have a blast. The game’s online mode certainly helps the games replay and Nintendo doesn’t (and shouldn’t) expect the game’s sales to slow down anytime soon.

Japanese PlayStation Site Lists PS3 Launch Titles
Posted by Brandon Gribin Categories: PlayStation 3, Release Dates,
While we haven’t heard any real news from Sony on PS3 in quite a while, the company has updated its Japanese PlayStation website with a brief list of supposed PS3 launch titles. As always, these release dates are only temporary but you’ve got to wonder, why would Sony list these games unless they really are going to be launch titles?
The list:
- The Eye of Judgment
- Genji 2
- Angel Rings
- Monster Carnival
- Everybody’s Golf 5
- Gran Turismo Series
Honestly though, most of the titles don’t look interesting at all. However, Hot Shots Golf 5 (Everybody’s Golf 5) could very well end up being a stellar game, especially considering how top-notch the earlier games in the series have been. Additionally, it’s interesting to see the “Gran Turismo Series” listed - but what does it mean? We’re almost positive that GT6 wouldn’t be ready for release so soon, but perhaps we can expect a GT mega-pack featuring all five previous games updated for the PS3?

Playfeed Review: Super Mario Strikers
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Features, Nintendo Gamecube, Reviews, Sports,
Okay, so let’s be real for a second. Mario is one talented plumber. He somehow manages to hang on to that day job while stomping giant mutant turtles (of the non-ninja variety), making time to party with his friends, and taking part in just about every sport known to man. Most recently, that would be soccer. We gave you an early preview of Super Mario Strikers when we went hands on with it at E3 2005. We have finally played through every part of the finished product that we can, and we are back to give you the scoop on whether Mario continues with another super game, or if he strikes out.

Tycho and Gabe of Penny Arcade have announced initial plans for a Penny Arcade Scholarship. The Seattle-based duo have been extremely generous before with their Child’s Play charity, and this scholarship could mean big things for some lucky kids out there. They also have a fairly well-known webcomic and will be hosting their third gaming expo this summer.

2old2play has put together an interesting article on what it defines as the six different types of gamers that make up “The Society of Gaming.”
The different categories are: Hard Core, Devoted, Pretend Hard Core, Casual, Clueless and Worthless. We’re sure no one who reads this blog - or any other video game websites - would fall into either of the last two categories. In fact, we’d bet most gamers who visit gaming sites would fit into either Hard Core, Devoted, or Pretend Hard Core. Hopefully you’re not a Pretend Hard Core, or PHC, claiming to know more than you really do.
For full definitions, check out the site.
